Long Canyon

Wood Ranch master-planned community's fourth and final village is Long Canyon, in southwest Simi Valley off Long Canyon Road at South Wood Ranch Parkway. The master developer puts the village at roughly 700 homes spread across 1,100 acres dedicated to the parks district and the state, with gated entries, three clubhouses, four pools, and a fitness center. A confirmed-gated sub-enclave sits within the village too: The Oaks at Wood Ranch, 89 homes with private trail access, governed separately from Long Canyon Garden Society (also known as Long Canyon Estates), which PMP Management administers. Wood Ranch Elementary School, at 455 Circle Knoll Drive, serves the neighborhood, and the Long Canyon Trailhead, at South Wood Ranch Parkway and Long Canyon Road, links to the Oak Canyon, Creekside, Canyon View, and Montgomery Canyon trails. The adjacent hills burned in the 189-acre Rustic Fire of August 2015 without structural damage, and a 2026 fuel-reduction effort using targeted goat grazing is underway specifically in Long Canyon.

What defines it

The Housing Stock

Long Canyon's housing spans at least two separately governed associations built out as the final phase of the Wood Ranch master plan, rather than one uniform HOA—confirm which association and dues apply to a specific address.

Frequently asked

Is Long Canyon its own neighborhood, or part of Wood Ranch?

It's the fourth and final village of the Wood Ranch master-planned community in southwest Simi Valley, per the project's own master developer, rather than a separate master plan with its own city entitlement. The village is reached via Long Canyon Road off South Wood Ranch Parkway.

Is Long Canyon gated?

At least the confirmed 89-home sub-enclave, The Oaks at Wood Ranch, is gated per its own site, and the master developer's site describes the completed Long Canyon project generally as having gated entries. A separate association, Long Canyon Garden Society, doesn't itself publish a gate-status statement, so don't assume uniform gating without checking the specific HOA.

How many homes are in Long Canyon?

The master developer's own site states roughly 700 for the whole village; The Oaks at Wood Ranch confirms 89 homes for its own sub-enclave. No single figure covering every named association was located, so confirm the specific HOA and its unit count before relying on either number.

What school does Long Canyon feed into?

Wood Ranch Elementary School, at 455 Circle Knoll Drive, part of Simi Valley Unified School District, serves grades K through 6, with GreatSchools scoring it 6 out of 10 as of mid-2026. Middle and high school assignment should be confirmed directly with the district.

What trails are accessible from Long Canyon?

The Long Canyon Trailhead, at South Wood Ranch Parkway and Long Canyon Road, connects to the Oak Canyon Trail and, about 2.1 miles east, the Montgomery Canyon Trail. The Canyon View and Creekside trails are also accessible from or near Long Canyon Road, all part of the same interconnected network.

Has Long Canyon been affected by wildfire?

Yes. A 189-acre brush fire, the Rustic Fire, burned in the adjacent Wood Ranch hills in August 2015, threatening roughly 500 homes without damaging any structures. A fuel-reduction project using targeted goat grazing is underway specifically in Long Canyon, confirmed by two separate news outlets as of mid-2026.
