Living in Studio City
Studio City is a City of Los Angeles neighborhood, not an incorporated city, so land-use regulation, permits, fire protection and most services are City of LA matters. City Planning describes it as bounded by Lankershim Boulevard on the east and Fulton Avenue on the west, inside the Sherman Oaks-Studio City-Toluca Lake-Cahuenga Pass Community Plan Area, whose current plan dates to 1998 with an update in progress.
The broader plan area runs from the 405 to Burbank between the 101 and 134 freeways and Mulholland Drive, but those are plan-area edges, not Studio City's own, and the packet is explicit that plan-area bounds should never be presented as neighborhood boundaries. The Studio City Neighborhood Council is City-recognized and advisory.
No official Census population exists for the neighborhood as a single geography, so market reporting here should work from address- or tract-based data with the geography disclosed. For any property question, the parcel and the City's own tools are the authority; the neighborhood name and its portal boundaries are marketing.
